We Film Your Fairy Tales

Let's Create Something Together!

What is Mayflower Creative?

We are wedding videographers who have a passion for storytelling. Your memories are important to us so we only use the best quality equipment to ensure your special moments are preserved well into the future.

We Travel

While we are based out of Springfield, Missouri, we are adventurers at heart and would love the opportunity to capture your wedding no matter where on the planet it is taking place.

Let's Get Coffee!

One of the things that sets us apart as a company is our love for people. Because we are sharing your most intimate life events with you, we want to build an authentic relationship with you. Let’s grab a drink and get to know each other, our treat!

Our Style

We strive to produce high quality cinematic videos that capture the beauty of your wedding in a timeless way. You won’t find any fancy visual effects like glows, film burns, or slick transitions in our videos. Because we want your video to be just as relevant in 40 years as it is today, we focus on clean edits using time-honored cinematic techniques.

Meet Our Team

Hey there! We (Jonathan and Katelyn May) are a husband & wife creative team based out of Springfield, MO. We love making art, watching Harry Potter, and drinking coffee.

In 2015, both of us received our Bachelor’s of Arts from an accredited university in Springfield, MO.  We’re excited for the opportunity to use the skills we learned in the classroom to document your unique story.

Our reason for starting Mayflower Creative was to combine our love of storytelling with a desire to ensure that your special moments in life are beautifully preserved so you can enjoy them far after they are over. Together we would like to create an environment where you feel comfortable sharing your life with us.

Frequently Asked Questions

They say a picture is worth 1,000 words… and video captures 24 pictures per second. Here at Mayflower Creative, telling your fairy tale is our priority. We want you to look back at these short films and relive the best day of your life. We believe in what we do and the memories we create. And that’s why we think that wedding videography is important.

Wedding vendors often get a bad rap for “overcharging.” It is important to keep in mind, the hours and cost involved with: Administration, inquiries, marketing, gear (cameras, tripods, audio recording equipment, lighting, and a bunch of special tools to help us get beautiful shots), gear maintenance, transport, meeting with clients, organizing schedules, preparation (charging batteries, cleaning lenses, clearing cards), filming, editing (downloading footage, watching through, cutting down, choosing music, storytelling, color grading, touching up, exporting, uploading), re-editing, recovering, repeating. Wedding Videography is a huge, detailed, and time consuming process. We have built our pricing in a way to cover our costs and allow us to continue producing high quality work.

A “Feature” edit is essentially an 8-20 minute wedding film, creatively edited to highlight the most memorable moments of your day. It might contain montages of wedding prep, snippets of speeches and vows, and is edited more like a music video.

A “Documentary” edit includes the entire ceremony from start to finish, using multiple camera angles of the service to create visual interest. This edit also includes full speeches from the reception.

Remember – longer is not always better. In our experience, most people will watch their shorter highlight videos much more often than a longer form documentary edit.

Most wedding videographers build their packages based on the amount of hours they will film. That unfortunately means that some couples have to decide what they want covered in their wedding video if they can’t afford the videographer for the entire day. Mayflower Creative is different. We believe you shouldn’t have to compromise on coverage due to budget restrictions. We are there for the whole wedding: from the bride’s preparation, to the bride and groom’s first dance together, to the bouquet toss, and finally to your guests saying goodbye at the end of the event.

We do our best to remain as unobtrusive as possible. One of the ways we do that is by utilizing Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras. Without getting too technical, it allows us to use smaller cameras and lenses while still capturing high quality video. Of course, there are times that we’ll need to provide some direction to capture certain shots, but we do keep that to a minimum. Another benefit of videography is that we do not use flash, which also helps us from being too noticeable.

Every wedding is different and there are a ton of factors that go into how long the final video will be. We do have some rough estimates, though. Teasers are generally around 30 seconds to 1 minute. Highlights are generally between 3-5 minutes. Feature edits generally run between 8-20 minutes and Documentary edits can run from 20 minutes to 1 hour.

Of course! We want the video to be something you watch over and over. However, not every song can be used, due to copyright and legality issues. Don’t worry, we’re good at finding beautiful licensed music to be used for your wedding videography.

Yes, all our filming and videography is done in HD. We also offer 4K Ultra HD as an add-on service.

Depending on the time of year, our usual turnaround is between 6-12 weeks. We are happy to arrange a rush service, however this may incur an additional fee.
